Last year, when I was visiting family, I lost my wallet with all my information. I was panicking about how I was going to get back home. Researching away to fly without any identification, no passport, no visa, not even my driver’s license.
It would have been helpful to have digital and physical copies of my travel documents, but I didn’t think about it until after losing everything.
Making digital and physical copies of your passport, visa, vaccines, and any other entry document can turn a disaster scenario into an inconvenience.
Luckily for me, my cousin found my wallet in his car the day before I had to fly, but the stress of not being able to get back home was on another level.
After that experience, I now have backups of all important documents.
To ensure your safety, keep copies in a password-protected cloud service, carry the photocopy with you, and keep the original in a safe and secure place when traveling.
I personally use this Fireproof Document Bag with Lock & Zip to secure my things. I then put it in the hotel safe. If there is no safe, I hide it in a pillow or under the mattress. The point is to keep everything safe and secure.
